The Batter's Box of the Quad Cities was opened on January 7, 2008.
That facility is owned by Dave Cruse and Phil Schaefer, both of whom are ASA softball coaches. Dave and Phil saw a need for a first-class practice facility for baseball and softball in the Quad City area....a facility that would allow teams to work on all facets of their games year-round.
The facility was opened as early as possible in 2008 to help accomodate teams that were displaced when the facility at the Nautilus Fitness Center in Moline was closed unexpectedly. Since last indoor season, the facility has undergone a major renovation, with a complete repaint, and the installation of 8000 square feet of AstroTurf. Additionally, the batting cage on the softball side has been widened, and the pitching lanes on the softball and baseball sides are now set up to accomodate a 43' pitching distance. We have also added an additional Jugs Jr. pitching machine for use by softball teams when using the baseball side.
But wait....there's more!
The Batter's Box is excited to announce the opening of The Batter's Box Training Center in early December. The training center will be located in the adjoining building to the team practice areas, and will feature 2 batting cages and 3 pitching lanes, and will be designed for use by skills instructors working with individuals or small groups. The Batter's Box is in discussions with a number of instructors, and looks forward to introducing our in-house instruction staff in the very near future. You're gonna see some names you recognize-we promise!
We welcome back all teams that used the facility last winter, and look forward to seeing lots of new faces as new teams get the opportunity to utilize the best-equipped practice facility in northwest Illinois.
The Batter's Box of the Quad Cities is now taking reservations for fall and winter practice times. Please contact Dave or Phil via the "Contact Us" page on the website, or email us at Phil@QCBattersBox.com
